Counseling is an opportunity to focus on the things that aren’t working in life, make changes, and find a more effective way to live. During the process, people typically meet weekly for about an hour with a counselor. They are able to discuss the difficulties in life and find strategies to fix them.
People from all walks of life who find themselves stuck, often find it beneficial to work with a counselor.
In essence, the counseling process is a conversation between a counselor and client. The focus is on the difficulties in life and the changes that need to be made. Over the weeks, accountability is established so that progress can be achieved.
To become a licensed counselor or therapist, one must have a master’s degree and licensure in the state they will be practicing. To maintain the license, counselors must take continuing education courses.
I typically work with adults who are interested in improving their lives. I meet with couples and help them build their relationships or become better parents. I also work with individual men and women who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, difficult transitions in life, and more.
